And some, inside and outside of politics, call news “fake” if they don’t agree with a report, whether it is accurate or not. We enjoy a professional relationship with our members that helps establish the trust we need to do our jobs. But a Knight Foundation report shows the national scene is a lot shakier on the fake news front. Knight found that just 27 percent of U.S. residents say they are very confident they are capable of telling whether a news source reports facts rather than opinion.
