It took him an hour to drive 42 miles from Panora to his office in Greater Des Moines — or the same time it took to drive 13 miles in D.C. Of his driving days in the U.S. capital city, Shaw recalled: “It would be 8:30 in the morning and I’d have high blood pressure and already be upset with my fellow man.”
