We all think we know our workplaces well, but the executive director at Hoyt Sherman Place got a once-in-a-lifetime surprise when he went searching through a mostly ignored storeroom. Robert Warren discovered the 400-year-old painting “Apollo and Venus,” created in 1600 by Dutch master Otto Van Veen, reports Radio Iowa. It was apparently donated to the Des Moines Women’s Club at Hoyt Sherman in 1923.
