The great part about attacking it over time is I didn’t have to dump everything out on my bed and dedicate an evening to looking at my clothes, like Marie Kondo advises — instead, I took out one hanger here or there while getting ready for work or the gym, depositing the joyless articles on a chair for a fateful donation trip. Now I just have to make the trip — maybe that will be my next weekend “stretch goal,” a concept introduced to me by Lifehacker. “Stretch goals” are the part of your weekend to-do last that are optional: easier tasks you’d like to accomplish, but which can wait behind higher priorities. In work life, simple tasks are easy to accomplish but clog up many an afternoon (like email); perhaps designating a few stretch goals for the day can help push up the true priorities.
