After all that heartbreak for Parisians, Christians and history lovers around the world, some hope: An exact digital replica of the Notre Dame Cathedral, captured in 2015, provides a precise road map that the restoration effort can take after Monday’s fire, reports the MIT Technology Review. So far, competing French luxury billionaires have pledged to donate 400 million euros ($452 million), and President Emmanuel Macron has pledged to lead the fundraising campaign to rebuild. Many of the artworks and relics inside Notre Dame were saved by the 400 firefighters responding to the call.
