Christmas came early with this announcement from the Wall Street Journal. Starbucks is going to start delivering, joining the trend of providing ease of service to customers. WSJ says of that trend: “Delivery is becoming a source of added sales for many restaurant chains that have seen their dining room traffic erode. Many chains say delivery has attracted customers who don’t come in to eat.” Greater Des Moines has seen this trend already with stores delivering groceries to doorsteps and more. Starbucks has been testing delivery in Miami (where I am guessing it’s likely easier to keep coffee hot while in transit, unlike an Iowa winter). The hitch: The service will only reach a quarter of Starbucks’ 8,000 U.S. locations. We may get skipped in Iowa, but I can dream a little.
