With our first female elected governor, will Iowan legislators come together to change the male pronouns in our state constitution? Efforts to update language describing the office of the governor have popped up since 2003 in the state, reports the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Although the language hasn’t prevented Gov. Kim Reynolds from carrying out her duties, “we should probably update it,” Reynolds told the Gazette. “He” is the first word of Article IV, Section 8, which describes the role, and continues through the rest of the historical document.
