Edwin Moore Inn of Court, a professional organization that promotes professionalism, civility and ethics among legal professionals, recently donated 400 pairs of high-quality socks and mittens to local Des Moines-area homeless agencies. The socks, many made of wool or wool blends, will supplement the cotton socks normally offered by the homeless agencies to those they serve. All of the socks and mittens were bought during “Socktoberfest,” the Fox River Woolen Mills Sock Sale that takes place each fall at the Mitchell County Fairgrounds in Osage. “With current estimates between 1,500 and 2,000 homeless people in the Des Moines area, this donation will help many of those people keep their feet warmer through the winter months and prevent cold weather-related foot issues,” Jaime Yowler of Iowa Homeless Youth Shelters said in a news release.
