Ever thought about leading Drake University’s College of Business and Public Administration? If so, you may want to update your resume and submit it as soon as possible. Terri Vaughan, who began a one-year contract as dean in June 2014 that has since been extended twice, says she plans to leave the position at her contract’s end in June 2017. I asked Vaughan about her plans after getting her comments about the college’s renewed accreditation. “I have let the administration know that I think this is a great time to look for a new dean, so we are undergoing a search for a new dean,” she said. “I know they’ve already gotten some applicants.” Vaughan, who was the state’s insurance commissioner from 1994 to 2004, was the Robb B. Kelley Distinguished Professor at the college from 2005 to 2009. She later led the National Association of Insurance Commissioners for nearly four years as its CEO. Vaughan said she hasn’t decided yet on her future beyond her current position. “We just got the AACB (accreditation), so now I get to start thinking about what’s next.”
