O’Keefe to be honored for volunteer efforts
Mary O’Keefe, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Principal Financial Group Inc., will be among five Iowa residents to be inducted into the Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame during recognition ceremony on Feb. 21. O’Keefe was instrumental in starting and raising endowment funds for Maddie’s Circle, with the goal of increasing volunteerism and philanthropy among the next generation of community leaders. She was also largely responsible for Principal’s decision to become the major sponsor for The Principal Charity Classic. Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds will preside at the event at the Capitol in Room G09 at 1:30 p.m. Nearly 30 exhibitors are expected for Volunteer Awareness Day, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Capitol rotunda. Both events are open to the public.
