Open enrollment begins Nov. 1 for Iowans purchasing or changing their individual health coverage under the Affordable Care Act for calendar year 2020. Iowa Insurance Commissioner Doug Ommen advises consulting a licensed insurance agent to research all coverage options to determine the best plans for themselves and their families. The deadline for enrollment is Dec. 15 to purchase ACA-compliant coverage effective by Jan. 1. During open enrollment, Iowans may call 800-318-2596 or visit healthcare.gov for information regarding enrollment and to calculate applicable tax credits.
