The Greater Des Moines Partnership has expanded, adding Mahaska County and Oskaloosa to the list of communities it serves. In an announcement Monday, officials with the Partnership said they will help Mahaska County and Oskaloosa on business expansion and relocation projects. Adding Mahaska County and Oskaloosa brings the number of counties served by the Partnership to 11, representing more than 828,000 people. Mike Swesey, executive director of economic development at the Partnership, said the move will create greater connections between Mahaska County and the others served by the Partnership. The Partnership also serves Adair, Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek and Warren counties. Mark Groenendyk, the chair of the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors, said the collaboration with the Partnership will make the county stronger. Amal Eltahir, Oskaloosa city manager, said joining the Partnership will help the city market itself and the opportunities it offers.
