The Greater Des Moines Partnership unveiled its legislative lobbying priorities for 2013 on Dec. 5. Here’s are its top priorities:

• Reduce corporate and income taxes – Simplify and reduce Iowa’s corporate and personal income tax rates to strengthen the state’s economic competitiveness.  Businesses and individuals should have the choice to deduct federal income taxes or to forgo federal deductibility in exchange for a significantly reduced state income tax rate.

• Increase development tax incentives  – Preserve and strengthen critical state economic development incentives and tax credits in order to create and maintain high-quality jobs.

• Reform education – Bold, innovative solutions to improve Iowa’s education system in order to support the state’s workforce needs.

• Reform commercial property tax – Meaningful commercial and industrial property tax relief should be linked with targeted alternative revenue streams for local governments.
