Partnership promotes ‘Look Local First’
The Greater Des Moines Partnership is asking area businesses to shift 5 percent of spending to local vendors as part of a program called “Look Local First.” The Partnership reports that Greater Des Moines businesses and local governments spend more than $13.4 billion a year to buy from suppliers outside this area. Shifting 5 percent of that would bring more than $670 million to the local economy, with a ripple effect creating a total $1 billion impact, the Partnership said.
