PE4life, United Way to provide school fitness grants
PE4life announced that it has partnered with United Way of Central Iowa to offer one-time wellness-related technology grants to schools that PE4life works with in Greater Des Moines. The organizations selected four schools through a competitive process to receive technology grants of up to $5,000. The schools chosen were Urbandale Middle School, Parkview Middle School in Ankeny and Des Moines Charter School and Bergman Academy in Des Moines. The funds will be used to purchase equipment such as heart rate monitors, pedometers, Fitness Gram software, body composition analyzers, and more. PE4life “believes that utilizing current technology helps to build and strengthen a school’s physical education program and therefore lays the foundation of a comprehensive school wellness program,” the organization said in a release.
