Polk County approves new lease for Prairie Meadows
The Polk County Board of Supervisors today approved a new seven-year and seven-month lease with Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino.
Polk County will receive $15.6 million a year for rent, and additional payments will be made at $10.4 million in each of the first three years, with the potential for additional revenue in subsequent years. Prairie Meadows will pay property tax in excess of $4.5 million.
The property is owned by Polk County, and the previous lease expired Dec. 31.
