Polk County supervisors approve sewer addition for Ankeny, county
The Polk County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution to create a new sewer project that would move some Ankeny residents off a septic system.
In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, the board approved a sewer line that would run from Saylor Township through Ankeny and on to Polk City. The two-phase project will cost $13.5 million.
Larry Land, director of public works for Polk County, said this will allow Ankeny to attach to the new line.
“This is going to be huge for Ankeny,” he said. “If this didn’t happen they would need to figure out how to pump [sewage] across town.”
The resolution said the county will be responsible for the project and construction administration. The city of Ankeny approved the sewer line at its city council meeting in April.
