Polk County and the national Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund will receive funding and technical support for financial literacy programming for county residents, according to a release. Polk County is among 18 local governments across the country that will be able to provide free, professional, one-on-one financial counseling. “There are organizations in our community who are doing a terrific job with financial literacy work and we are hoping to use this grant funding to better coordinate services and to enhance financial literacy programming that is taking place within Polk County’s case management programs already,” Angela Connolly, chair of the board of supervisors, said in a statement. The program is supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Wells Fargo & Co., the JPB Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Capital One. The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund provides grant support, technical assistance and a national learning community to help local government partners plan, launch and sustain Financial Empowerment Centers for their residents, according to the release.
