Post-Thanksgiving weekend, Des Moines Art Center to hold ‘Entirely Kids Day’ event
The Des Moines Art Center is offering a free post-Thanksgiving, family-friendly event on Saturday. The event, called “Entirely Kids Day: Larger than Life,” will feature art, hands-on activities, music and film as visitors explore scale in art. Highlights include a 20-foot papier-mâché taco pizza sculpture by artist Justin Favela, the unveiling of Des Moines’ first Free Little Art Gallery, which invites the public to take or leave a miniature artwork, and watching the Disney classic “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” on the big screen. “As parents, many of us are looking for ways to spend time together and redirect our attention away from screens. Entirely Kids Day is designed to do that in a fun and enriching way,” said Director of Education and Interpretation Jill Featherstone. The event is on Saturday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information can be found on the Des Moines Art Center’s website.
