Prairie Meadows has awarded two grants to the nonprofit organization EveryStep to help pay for renovations at its Kavanagh House hospice facility in Des Moines, and to buy Cheer Box items for the organization’s Grief and Loss Services program. The grants will be used to pay $75,000 of construction and equipment expenses to upgrade the Kavanagh House, and for $10,000 in items for the Cheer Boxes. “Funding from Prairie Meadows is critical to provide modern amenities, medical equipment, and structural efficiencies at Kavanagh House, which are long overdue,” said Julie Matternas, EveryStep Foundation executive director. “It also has allowed us to purchase meaningful, intentional gifts to expand the Cheer Box program.” EveryStep is a health care and human services nonprofit organization that offers more than 30 programs statewide to provide prenatal support, education to young mothers, childhood developmental screening, wellness services to low-income communities, in-home care to people who are ill, and compassionate support for families and individuals during times of grief and loss.
