Project IOWA honors first graduating class
The leaders of A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy (AMOS) will celebrate its first graduating class of Project IOWA (Iowa Opportunities for Workforce Advancement) today at 5 p.m.
Gov. Terry Branstad will give the commencement address to 36 trainee graduates at Corinthian Baptist Church at Ninth and School streets.
Trainees attended classes at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) or Mercy College of Health Sciences and a biweekly class where they developed skills such as work ethic, problem-solving and communication.
About 67 percent of Project IOWA graduates have been placed in jobs so far.
