Background and update: Work is completed on a 52-unit owner-occupied condominium project just south of downtown.

 
 
 

The Hubbell Realty Co. project that began in spring 2019 includes one- and two-bedroom units ranging in size from 590 square feet to nearly 1,500 square feet. Prices range from $169,000 to $325,000 and include a 10-year tax abatement.

The project is Hubbell’s first new condominium construction in downtown since 2009.

“This is a great option for anyone looking to own in downtown at a comfortable price point, especially those first time homebuyers who want to stay close to Court Avenue, Western Gateway, Principal Park, Gray’s Lake and connecting neighborhood attractions,” Kris Saddoris, Hubbell’s vice president of multifamily development, said in a prepared statement. “It’s really hard to compare Edison to anything else in downtown Des Moines right now.”

Edison will also include single-stall garages and an outdoor courtyard.

Seven condos have been sold to date.
