Construction begins on new mixed-use building in Valley Junction

Background and update: Site work has begun on a three-story mixed-use building at 315 Fifth St. in West Des Moines’ Valley Junction district.

Taxium LLC bought the property in mid-2019 for $500,000, Polk County real estate records show.

The new 23,750-square-foot building will include a first floor and mezzanine level for commercial and office space. The third story will include 10 apartment units.

A one-story structure that was on the site has been demolished.

Construction is expected to be completed by February 2022.
