QuikTrip said Monday it is closing four locations around the Des Moines metro area, where according to one expert, competition in the convenience store sector is among the fiercest in the nation.

Des Moines Register: QuikTrip said Monday it is closing four locations around the Des Moines metro area, where according to one expert, competition in the convenience store sector is among the fiercest in the nation. The stores closing today are at 11925 University Ave. in Clive, 9915 Douglas Ave. in Urbandale, 5169 Merle Hay Road in Johnston and 7220 Hickman Road in Windsor Heights. A company spokesman said he was “not at liberty” to comment on whether the stores had been purchased by another company.
