Report: Iowa lost manufacturing jobs in 2010
Industrial employment in Iowa decreased 1.4 percent in 2010, according to the 2011 Iowa Manufacturers Register.
Iowa lost 3,972 industrial jobs between January 2010 and January 2011, though that was much smaller than the nearly 15,000 manufacturing jobs the state lost the previous year. Iowa now has 5,554 manufacturers employing 265,030 workers, the report said.
Food products manufacturing is the state’s largest industrial sector with 56,877 jobs, virtually unchanged from a year ago. The electronics sector took the largest hit, down 7.6 percent.
