Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds today announced the creation of the Future Ready Iowa Alliance by signing Executive Order 88. Branstad also announced that Reynolds will co-chair the alliance with Dan Houston, chairman, president and CEO of Principal Financial Group Inc. Other members of the alliance board will be appointed by the governor from business and industry, labor, preK-12 and higher education organizations. The executive order charges the alliance with developing and recommending a strategic plan by Oct. 31, 2017, to ensure 70 percent of Iowa’s workforce will have education or training beyond high school by the year 2025. The Alliance also will determine metrics and benchmarks to demonstrate progress toward the goal. Iowans interested in serving on the Future Ready Iowa Alliance should click here.
