The Rotary Club of Greater Des Moines met last Wednesday to welcome two new members and to celebrate receiving its charter from Rotary International (RI), a worldwide service organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders.

RI District 6000 Governor Susan Herrick was in attendance to help present membership pins to the group’s 38 members and to recognize Rita Perea, the club’s president and founder, with a Paul Harris Fellowship award for her contribution of more than $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation.

Todd Millang, a broker with CB Richard Ellis/Hubbell Commercial and a member of the West Des Moines Rotary Club, was the evening’s speaker.

The club, which has been meeting since December, was formally granted an RI charter on March 26.
