Sherman Associates Inc. announced that it will host an open house Nov. 10 for its Rumely Lofts housing development at 104 S.W. Fourth St. in Des Moines. George Sherman, founder and owner of the Minneapolis-based company, will be the featured speaker at the event, which is scheduled to take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Mayor Frank Cownie, Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Joe O’Hern and Tim Leach of the Downtown Community Alliance are also expected to attend. Sherman Associates spent 13 months converting the historic Rumely Building into a 66-unit affordable housing development. The more than $17 million project was completed in October. Rents for the one- and two-bedroom apartments are $743 and $889 per month, respectively. The event is open to the public.
