Seventy-one percent of U.S. workers said their workloads have increased as a result of layoffs at their companies. An online survey of 443 U.S. workers by Right Management Inc. found that 54 percent of them think their burden at work has increased “a lot.” The findings were similar those from to a survey Right Management conducted last year, when 79 percent of workers indicated that their workloads had gotten heavier. “Leaner staffing remains a continuing test for most companies,” said Mary Haskins with Right Management. “In the near term, organizations may demand extra effort and sacrifice in the workplace, but as the economy picks up, employee patience or expectations may change.”
