Des Moines Register: The Bondurant-Farrar school district is facing an $894,285 loss — about 3.5% of its budget — after the county assessor failed to exempt Facebook’s latest data center building from property taxes. The $52.4 million building is exempt from taxation for 20 years as part of an economic development package. Polk County Assessor Randy Ripperger says the oversight is not his fault; he was never notified about the development agreement. However, the city and state both say it’s not their responsibility to notify the assessor of exemptions.
