School projects dominate ‘people’s choices’ for design awards

103 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentVoters in the the Iowa Chapter of the American Institute of Architects’ inaugural “People’s Choice” award showed a preference for school buildings. More than 65 projects received votes, with Hempstead High School in Dubuque, designed by FEH Design, receiving the most votes. Rounding out the top five finishers were Ankeny Centennial High School, designed by DLR Group; Hansen Elementary School in Cedar Falls, designed by StruXture Architects; Gilbert High School, designed by DLR Group; and Flix Brewhouse in Des Moines, also designed by DLR Group. More than 30,000 votes were cast. A virtual tour of the top five buildings can be found online.
