The Science Center of Iowa and Blank IMAX Dome Theater (SCI) will host Kemin Industries Inc. and Dr. David Scott to educate visitors about eye health on Aug. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Scott, a Des Moines optometrist, will provide free macular pigment optical density (MPOD) eye screenings as part of the Body Worlds Vital Health Minds, Healthy Bodies event series. In addition to the free eye screenings, representatives from Kemin will be on hand to educate visitors about the important role that lutein plays in maintaining healthy vision. The Des Moines-based company manufactures products that contain the antioxidant supplement. The free screenings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
