Six ISU researchers named science fellows

The American Association for the Advancement of Science has named six Iowa State University researchers as AAAS fellows, recognizing scientifically or socially distinguished work to advance science. They are in the fields of statistics, bioinformatics, plant biology, crop improvement, astrophysics and plant pathology and join a class of 391. Named were:
  • Alicia Carriquiry, director of the Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensics Evidence.
  • Xun Gu, professor of genetics, development and cell biology.
  • Stephen Howell, Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and Life Sciences in genetics, development and cell biology.
  • Guru Rao, associate vice president for research and professor in the Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology.
  • Curtis Struck, professor of physics and astronomy.
  • Steven Whitham, professor of plant pathology and microbiology.
