Brett Altman

Brett Altman, president and CEO of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, has accepted the position of CEO of Cass County Health System in Atlantic, effective January. Altman, who has been president and CEO since July 2014 and has been employed at Skiff since 1994, is credited with a $2.5 million operational turnaround of the medical center and raising more than $1 million in philanthropic support for capital improvements. Under Altman’s leadership, Skiff integrated into the Mercy Health Network health system in July 2015. “Under Brett’s leadership, Skiff has strengthened its fiscal foundation and elevated its fundraising efforts,” said Dr. Jeff King, chair of the Skiff board of directors. “He and his team have made Skiff what it is today — a very high-quality institution with an outstanding reputation.” The Skiff Medical Center board of directors, in collaboration with leadership at Mercy-Des Moines, will make an announcement in the coming weeks regarding filling the CEO position at Skiff.
