Skywalks get a new look
Operation Downtown is sprucing up the skywalks in downtown Des Moines in time for the Iowa caucuses. Along with its parent organization, the Downtown Community Alliance, Operation Downtown had the carpets cleaned and in some areas replaced, the windows washed and leaky roofs fixed. Additionally, the walls were painted, and murals will be installed. “The short-term goal was to update the skywalk system as much as possible by the caucuses, but the long-term goal is to continue the process long-term to preserve this great asset for our downtown workers and visitors,” said Tim Leach, director of economic development for the Downtown Community Alliance.
