The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs opened its annual round of grants targeting the sustainability of arts and culture, film and media, history and historic preservation efforts in Iowa, the department announced this week. The Iowa Arts Council will administer the new Iowa Arts & Culture Resilience Grants, designed for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations (who may receive between $2,500 and $10,000) as well as individuals (who may receive between $500 and $5,000). Iowa’s arts and cultural businesses, along with the state’s broader tourism and hospitality industries, reported higher unemployment rates than most other sectors of the economy in 2020. The Iowa Arts Council will place additional consideration on applications that primarily serve rural counties; a community of color; and counties with lower socioeconomic status. Guidelines on each grant and more information are available online.
