Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller today announced a series of special consumer protection efforts designed to assist Iowans who are active-duty service members or veterans. Miller said service members and veterans are often targeted by scammers and predatory lenders because of their steady income and benefits. The agency has modified its complaint forms to allow active-duty service members and veterans to identify themselves with a check box so that their complaints can be handled on a priority basis, when appropriate. It has also developed new web pages specifically for this population and brought on a military veteran volunteer, Karl Schilling, to assist with complaints.
