The Iowa Leading Indicators Index rose to 101 in September from 100.4 in August, with six out of the eight indicators contributing to the increase. The increase was the 12th consecutive monthly gain for the index, which is compiled by the Iowa Department of Revenue. Through the six months ending Sept. 30, the index has gained 3.7 percent in value, or an annualized rate of 7.4 percent. The positive contributors in September were the agricultural futures profits index, diesel fuel consumption, unemployment insurance claims, average weekly manufacturing hours, the new orders index and the Iowa stock market index. The negative contributors were new residential building permits and the national yield spread.
