Iowa held a statewide primary election Tuesday to determine candidates for Congress, the Iowa Legislature and county races in the November general election.

Lanon Baccam won the Democratic primary for U.S. House District 3 against nonprofit leader Melissa Vine with 84.2% of the vote, according to unofficial results. Baccam will run against Rep. Zach Nunn.

The Polk County Board of Supervisors will have two new supervisors next year. District 3 incumbent Steve Van Oort lost the Republican primary race to Mark Holm. Democrat Kim Hageman ran unopposed.

In the District 2 supervisor race, prompted by Supervisor Robert Brownell’s retirement, Jill Altringer won the Republican primary against Bob Start and John Forbes ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

Matt Schultz won the Republican primary for Dallas County Attorney against Ronald Carl Forsell. Meggan Guns ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
