STEM council seeks candidates for scale program

103 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Innovation and EntrepreneurshipThe Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council is accepting applications for a partnership that will help programs grow across Iowa during the 2016-17 academic year. Each year, the STEM council helps pay for programs delivered to more than 2,000 educators for work in and out of the classroom. They call it “scale-up” in the STEM world, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The programs have helped more than 100,000 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. On average, participating students score about 6 percentage points higher on standardized mathematics and science tests. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Dec. 7. Read more
