Student artists to be recognized at Des Moines Arts Festival
The Des Moines Arts Festival will celebrate more than 400 young Iowa artists at the Visionary Artists Ceremony, presented by Hubbell Homes, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on the Hy-Vee Main Stage. This is the first year the event will be held on the festival’s main stage. The Student Art Exhibition display at the corner of 13th and Locust streets can be viewed during regular festival hours and will be located at the Des Moines Central Library for six weeks following the festival. This year’s Visionary Artists Ceremony will recognize the artistic achievements of 437 students from 111 elementary, junior high and high schools. “Art and creativity are things to be celebrated, and the artists we recognize are the future creative talents that will drive our city and our state forward,” said Rick Tollakson, president and CEO of Hubbell Realty Co.
