Students recognized for architecture drawings
The Iowa Architectural Foundation announced the winners of its third annual Architecture by Children Drawing Contest. More than 150 entries in nine Iowa regions were submitted by students in grades K-3 and 4-6 who were asked to draw their favorite cultural building. In the Central Iowa region, third grade Jefferson Elementary student Kylie Lynch won for his drawing of the Salisbury House & Gardens in Des Moines. Jackson Poulson, a fourth grade student at Aurora Heights Elementary in Newton, won for his drawing of a Methodist church. Rachel Eckert, a fifth grade student at Cornerstone Academy in Davenport, was selected the overall statewide winner for her drawing of the Bettendorf Public Library. Winners received prize packages donated by members of the Iowa Museum Association and the Iowa State Historical Society.
