Summer sun pressures productivity
Employees are 31 percent more likely to use vacation time in June through August than during any other time of the year, Small Biz Technology reported.
Citing the Replicon Productivity Index, which tracks trends and presents insights about employee productivity, Small Biz said 52 percent of employees are more likely to use paid time off to soak up the summer sun than they are to go on spring break.
Replicon’s report suggested that managers take more sick days than non-managers per year, and Monday leads the five-day workweek as the most frequent sick day among employees.
“In today’s economy, a decrease in employee productivity can pose a greater challenge to businesses than ever before,” said Lakshmi Raj, cofounder of Replicon. “It’s critical that companies have complete visibility into workforce productivity trends and are able to implement tools and strategies that balance employee time off with critical activities to ensure business success.”
The index, which is based on data from approximately 100,000 users in more than 1,000 companies around the world, showed that Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving were the top three U.S. holidays that lead employees to take an additional day off of work to recover.
