The Polk County Board of Supervisors took action today to appoint a five-member Temporary Redistricting Commission.

The commission is charged to review and recommend changes in the county’s supervisor districts and recommend any changes in precinct boundaries of the unincorporated areas of the county.

Majority party representatives are Ned Chiodo, Michael Gartner and Tom Whitney. Minority party representatives are Brian Rickert and Brad Peyton. The Board of Supervisors requested that the commission submit its recommendation for action on or before Sept. 1, and the plan must be submitted to the Iowa secretary of state by Oct. 15.
