The Iowa Supreme Court ruled today that a casino management company is entitled to a $10 million Polk County jury award that had been overturned by the Court of Appeals. Wild Rose Entertainment LLC and its co-founder, Gary Kirke, violated the terms of a 2004 agreement with Signature Management Group LLC, the Supreme Court ruled, and are liable for the damages. The agreement covered operation of casinos that Wild Rose planned to open in Ottumwa and Emmetsburg. Signature argued that Wild Rose and Kirke violated the terms of the agreement in an attempt to save on management fees. The Ottumwa casino did not open. The damages amount to projected revenue that Signature would have received had it been retained as manager.
