In response to a survey by Dice Holdings Inc., 37 percent of technology professionals said they would be willing to take up to a 10 percent cut in salary if they could telecommute instead of driving back and forth to work.

According to a Dice press release, the average tech professional is paid $74,570 per year. That translates into a willingness to take an annual pay cut of nearly $7,500 in this era of $4 per gallon gasoline.

In the poll of more than 1,500 professionals, 7 percent of the respondents said they already work from home.
