McKesson Corp. has signed an agreement with Iowa Health System to deploy McKesson’s Horizon Medical Imaging picture archiving and communications system (PACS) at 34 locations, including hospitals, rural clinics and locations in which radiology services are provided, throughout Iowa. Iowa Health is currently using the San Francisco-based healthcare services and information technology company’s PACS system in five of the seven regions that it serves, including Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Sioux City, Waterloo and the Quad Cities. Iowa Health’s other two regions, Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, are expected to implement PACS this month. The project also includes data migration of all historical Iowa Health System data.
The Community Tax Clinic and Community CPA & Associates Inc. have partnered with several private, public and nonprofit agencies to present the 2009 Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 14. The summit, to be held at Drake University’s Olmstead Center, intends to bring immigrant businesses, business service providers and members of the community members together to share information, learn best business practices and celebrate the contributions of immigrant businesses. More than 300 immigrants attended last year’s event. The registration fee is $30 for owners of immigrant-owned businesses and $50 for the general public, Breakfast and lunch are included. A 35-year newspaper veteran and author of 21 books has launched a new magazine focused on making Iowa history fun, exciting and relevant. Mike Chapman, editor and publisher of Iowa History Journal, said the magazine, which is published every other month, is geared toward students, educators and anyone else interested in the state’s rich history. He is set to roll out the publication’s sixth issue in December. Chapman, a native of LaPort City, retired as publisher of the Newton Daily News in 2002.
