The Mid America Chamber of Commerce Executives recognized two local chambers of commerce during the Annual Conference in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce and the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce were honored by the organization. The Des Downtown group was recognized for the second time with Event of the Year for its Downtown DIG (Development Insights Group). Tiffany Menke, president of the Urbandale Chamber for the last 14 years, was honored as Executive of the Year. The event category is judged on criteria such as value to the community and chamber, resonance within their community, ongoing effects and popularity, measurable results and innovation. The executive of the year award is presented to a chamber executive who has demonstrated a vision, commitment and passion for the advancement of their chamber and community as a whole. Nominees came from around the six-state area. In 2017, Menke was honored by the Business Record as a Woman of Influence (Insider story here).
