UI names new executive vice president and provost
The University of Iowa has named Montserrat “Montse” Fuentes as executive vice president and provost, the Corridor Business Journal reported. She will begin on June 28; her appointment is subject to approval by the Iowa Board of Regents. Fuentes is currently dean and a professor in the College of Humanities & Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. She succeeds Sue Curry, who has served as interim executive vice president and provost since April 2017. Since joining VCU in 2016, Fuentes has served as dean of the College of Humanities & Sciences and professor of statistics in the college, as well as professor of biostatistics in the School of Medicine.
