Records show UI in March 2017 objected to Modern Piping’s bid to help construct a 296,000-square-foot pharmacy building. The documents did not state the university’s reason for the objection. After a yearslong legal dispute stemming from Modern Piping’s involvement on the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, the 6th District Court ordered UI to pay Modern Piping $21.5 million for work done.
